Wow is it really THREE months since I wrote in my Blog? Gosh where do the days go? Well to be honest I wouldn’t have a clue what we got up to in April as my memory is just not that good these days (is it just me that lost her short term memory with the birth of her children?). Luckily, however I take a MILLION photo’s every month that are all filed on my PC meticulously (yes that’s right even my computer has to be neat, tidy, organised and in order hee hee), so with a few clicks of my mouse I can travel back in time and remember exactly what the family got up to all those months ago. As it turns out April was rather a busy month or rather the Easter/Anzac LONG weekend was, so I will try and keep it brief as not to bore you all (I say all but what I really mean is the few people who actually read my blog).
Anzac Day fell on the same day as Easter Monday this year which resulted in a five day weekend as the public holiday for Easter Monday was moved to the Tuesday. I know some people reading this probably aren’t sure what Anzac Day is, so I cut and pasted the following straight from Wikipedia just in case you are interested:
Anzac Day is a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand, and is commemorated by both countries on25th April every year to honor the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who fought at Gallipoli in Turkey during World War I. It now more broadly commemorates all those who died and served in military operations for their countries.

The weekend started on Friday 22nd when we headed to Redcliffe for the “Festival of Sails” which is an annual festival held to celebrate the start of the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race. There was a Lego Building Competition, entertainment for the kids, parachuting Easter Bunnies, sand sculpture competitions for the adults and markets. We spent the morning there then headed home for a spot of lunch.
After lunch Jason was headed for drinks with the footie boys, we went to drop him off and ended up staying too. The kids had a blast as they always do at” The Duke Street Daltons”. I was extremely disorganized as we hadn’t been planning on staying. We didn’t even have nappies with us for Little Miss Belly Boo, luckily Master William is of a similar age and when the inevitable happened there was supplies available hee hee. We stayed for a few hours and after what had been a long tiring day we stopped off for McDonalds for tea on the way home.

Saturday was Family Day at The Gold Coast Racecourse; this was something we weren’t going to miss as entry was FREE if your child entered the colouring competition. Well us Taylors LOVE free days out. Family Days at the horse racing are ALWAYS successful as there is heaps for the kids to do and is also entertaining for Mummy and Daddy too.

The kids enjoyed free rides, a petting zoo, pony rides, face painting and endless amounts of free chocolate from the Easter Bunny. Jacob was disappointed not to win the colouring competition, it was a little unusual for him to get upset by this as he has entered them before and been unconcerned when not winning. I think this might be the first signs of him turning in to a bad loser, just like his daddy. There was no luck on the betting front.

On the drive back to Brisbane we passed by the venue where the Monster Truck Show was going to be that night. Lots of the Monster Trucks were parked up on the verge outside the venue so we stopped off for a look and to take some pictures. Jacob liked the Batman Monster Truck best of all.

Sunday of course was Easter and was to be our rest day for the weekend. The kids were spoiled with chocolate from the Easter Bunny, Granny and some very special Easter Bunnies called Marty and Lisa. The kids got the craft box out and made a lovely Easter picture for Granddad, which we took with us when we visited him. The afternoon was spent relaxing and eating chocolate.

Monday we headed in to the city for The Anzac Day Parade. This is something we have been doing for a few years now and we plan to continue it on as a family tradition. Jason and I both believe it is very important for the kids to learn from an early age to respect and celebrate our REAL LIFE Superheroes. The parade is always a little emotional and you can’t fail but to shed a few tears. It especially gets to me when you see really old ladies and gentlemen who can barely walk but have refused a wheelchair or car and show boundless determination to march and they make it round. These people are truly amazing individuals who put many of us, myself included to shame.
After the parade it was time for a pub lunch and home for a few well deserved beers and some cricket in the yard after a very busy few days.

The Tuesday saw the end of a lovely weekend and gave us time to catch up on some household chores we had been avoiding for some time. In the evening we took the kids to the Waterfront to have some pizza for tea (I know most people go for fish and chips on the Waterfront but hey we Taylors are not most people).

During this month we also went to Sizzlers, this was Bella’s first visit and see was in Heaven, well she is a foodie after all.

The end of the month saw the Royal Wedding of Wills and Kate (aka William and Catherine). I was shocked how excited Jacob got about it. We let him stay up late to see the Princess in her beautiful dress.
