From The Mouth of Jacob

Jacob 23 Months

During the years that Jacob has been able to talk he has regularly amused us with some of the things he has said.  Sometimes it is the mispronunciation of a word and other times it’s the actual content that we find amusing.

I have found myself starting to forget some of the things that he has said that has entertained us, so I decided to store them all on a document on the computer.  Maybe I will embarrass him at his 18 or 21 and give all the guests a print out.  Anyway I thought I would share some of them on my Blog.

·         One day I told Jacob to stop being so ridiculous, he turned to me and replied “But Mummy I don’t like being DICKLESS
·         One afternoon I heard an excited scream of “Mummmmy” from the bathroom, I rushed through to see what the problem was.  I found a smiling Jacob pointing down the toilet saying “Look Mummy I did a heart shaped poo for you because I love you”
·         Jacob LOVES LOVES LOVES playing Lego Star Wars on Jason’s PS3.  One day when Jason returned from work Jacob went rushing out to the car yelling “Daddy can I play your Star WHORES game”.
·         When Jacob was around 2 ½ instead of saying “Excuse me” or “Sorry” when he didn’t hear what you had said he would say “Wot you talking?”
·         Whilst visiting granddad Bella told him to “Go away”, Bella isn’t being nasty when she says this, and she picked it up from Jacob and finds it funny to say.  Anyway Jacob piped up “No Bella Granddad can’t go away actually because he can’t walk anymore”
·         Playing Eye spy with Jason, Jacob has a turn and says “eye spy with my little eye something that is gray”.  The answer to come back “Daddy’s hair”.
·         One day Jacob came to me and told me a very interesting story, it went a little like this:  “Mummy when I was in your tummy, Bella was in there too.  I bit off her willy and that’s why she doesn’t have a willy anymore and I do”
·         Jacob once asked me how Bella got out my tummy.  I explained that I went to hospital and the Doctor and nurses helped get her out.  He replied “No Mummy I think she just got a ladder and climbed out through your belly button”
Jacob 25 Months

These are just a few of the MANY funny things Jacob has said over the last few years, I am sure there will be many many more and soon Bella will probably be coming out with funny things too.

June ~ July's Journal

Jacob & Bella Playing in the Park

I decided to Blog about June and July as a joint entry as we have not been getting up to too much recently. July is a crazy month for us as far as bills are concerned, EVERYTHING needs renewing in July and this year Jason made it worse by lumbering us with a hefty speeding fine. We also decided that we would move house at the end of our lease in September, so we have really had to tighten our belts and watch spending. I would like to point out that I don’t think you need to spend lots of money to have fun, especially where kids are concerned. Kids are happy just to go for a picnic at the local park but let’s be honest these sorts of activities don’t really make for exciting reading in a Blog.
Jacob at Fort Lytton

June saw the Queen’s Birthday Holiday Weekend; I always find it funny that the Queen’s Birthday is a recognised public holiday here in Australia but not in the United Kingdom. A friend sent me a great link to the “Jump on it” Website (a bit like groupon and the likes) where they were selling half price passes to a re-enactment day at Fort Lytton. Fort Lytton is the birthplace of Queensland's military history. Built in 1880-81 to protect Brisbane from enemy attack, the Fort is the principal remaining landmark of a reserve that for 40 years was the focus of Queensland's defense activity (yes you guessed it, that was cut and pasted from Wikipedia).

Jacob with Scottish, British & Australian Flags

It cost $20 for the whole family and there were activities and battle re-enactments all day long. As it turned out we only stayed for a few hours as it was FREEZING and raining. We also weren’t allowed to take the car right up to the site as you usually can as it was just too busy. We had to park in a nearby energy plant car park and bus up to the site. This meant it was too difficult to take our picnic lunch with us, so when the kids got hungry we left and drove all the way to the top of Mount Gravatt to enjoy our picnic lunch. Well if it was freezing at Fort Lytton then it was arctic conditions at the top of Mount Gravatt, okay so that is clearly an exaggeration but you get the picture. After our picnic lunch we popped in to see Rob on the way home. An enjoyable day was had by all.

Jacob at Suncorp Stadium

The Bronco’s FINALLY had a Sunday afternoon game which meant Jacob would at long last be able to attend his first NRL Brisbane Bronco’s match. Without boring you too much on the mechanics of it all, Bronco’s ALWAYS get the Friday night game slot which means it’s just too late for Jacob to go. He was so chuffed to have a boy’s day out with Daddy to the footie and he managed to stay for the whole game and it even went into extra time. Broncos won by golden point, pheeww.

The Little Kids Watch the Big Kids Play

Jacob also got to spectate another big match, when some of the Daddy's took the kids along to watch their Oztag team play. Unfortunately the other team didn't turn up but there was enough blokes around to get a game together and the kids didn't care anyway, they were way too busy playing their own game to watch the big kids play.

Jacob Bike Riding

We have been spending a lot of time with the kids at the park recently; we are working on getting Jacob confident in riding and steering his bike with the view to eventually getting rid of his training wheels. Jason is also spending time playing footie with Jacob and practising kicking and throwing as when he turns 5 he will be able to sign up for juniors and start training and playing for a team. He will also be able to sign up for cricket in the summer too, our life’s are about to get a whole lot busier.

Bella Bike Riding

I can’t do a Blog entry without a mentioning Bella at all, so there you go she’s had her mention. Only joking, Bella is just Bella and every month she gets wilder and wilder and basically she rules the roost and bullies Jacob, let’s hope she grows out of it, I think not.
