Januarys Journal

I had a little debate with myself as to whether I would write monthly Blogs this year but I decided that it is like my little online diary and one day it would probably be interesting to myself and perhaps the kids to sit down and read about their early years, so as long as I can find the time I will continue to do them.

Well, it’s 2012 and it’s going to be quite a big year for the Taylors.  Jacob’s starts school, Louise will hopefully return to employment resulting in Bella attending day care, we have Auntie Ruth and the kids visiting for around 5 weeks or so, Jason and Louise celebrate 10 years together, so yep it should be an eventful year.

So let’s kick things off with January’s recap and let’s start with the easy stuff:
Jacob in his School Uniform
Jacob started prep at Wynnum State School, I blogged about my feelings before he started here at “Times a Changing” and posted about his first day here at “Jacob’s First Day of Prep”.  He is doing well and continues to really enjoy it.
Jacob's Birthday
January also hosted Jacob’s Birthday; you can read about that event at “Jacob Turns 5”.
Kids Dressed for Australia Day
And of course we also celebrated “Australia Day”.
There that was pretty easy.
View from Mt Coot-tha on a Rainy Day
It rained in January, it rained LOTS in January.  However we did not let that stop us and in the pouring rain we took a trip up to the top of Mt Coot-tha (apparently there is a number of different ways to spell Mt Coot-tha, I choose this way).  Of course visibility was greatly reduced in the wet weather conditions but after so much rain it was just nice to get out the house.
Lunch in the Rain at Botanical Gardens
On the way down from Mt Coot-tha, we stopped in at the Botanical Gardens and had a picnic in the rain.  We spent a couple of hours there and it was really quite enjoyable.  I had no idea just how big the place was, after 2 hours I don’t think we even managed to see 20%.  I got a chance to take lots of photos with my new camera.
Bella Enjoying her Chicken Noodle Soup
The rain saw Jacob’s cricket cancelled one Friday evening, so we headed out for a Chinese meal, it was the first time the kids had tried Chinese food and surprisingly they actually quite enjoyed it, especially Bella who thought the Chicken Noodle Soup was just the best thing ever and ate 4 bowls.
The Kids with Superheros at Movieworld
We managed a trip to Movieworld and the kids got to see Batman and some other Superheroes, I have no idea what their names are as I am not a big Superhero fan.
And that was January.  See you next month, whoever you are.
