February Fun

After a month of neglecting my Blog, for various different reasons but mostly due to lack of time and extreme tiredness, here I am with Februarys recap if a few days late.  It’s been an unusually quiet month for us Taylor’s, so I won’t be keeping you long.

The month kicked off with a trip to Currumbin Rock Pools on the Gold Coast.  The day turned out to be stinking hot and in hindsight it probably wasn’t the best idea to go on such a long drive when the air conditioning in the car is currently broken and Jason had a rotten hangover but after almost 6 years here I still had never been.  Despite all this it turned out to be a fun afternoon and was a nice way to cool off.  Just to point out the photo above is taken from the website as I forgot my camera that day (I KNOW, shock horror, me?  Forgetting the camera?  But yes it did happen).

The next day we took a drive into Chinatown to join in the Chinese New Year Celebrations.  Again it was awfully hot and uncomfortable as it was in the middle of the day, so we ended up not staying too long.  Bella gets very cranky when she is in the sun and the arrival of Lord Mayor Campbell Newman was enough to sour the day (just my opinion so no political backlash for me please).
We managed to fit a few relaxing days in at home on the weekends last month which is very unusual for us and was very enjoyable.  We spent a whole afternoon teaching Jacob to play some of the classic games like Snap, Bingo, Dominoes, and Snakes and Ladders and more, thanks to the Duke Street Daltons for the great Birthday gift to Jacob he LOVES it.  It was hilarious teaching him and then him making up his own versions and cheats so he could win.

The highlight of the month had to be our trip to Eagle Farm Racecourse for Dollar Day.  I was so shocked at how much we all enjoyed it.  Bella loved the open grass to run around on and the never ending supply of food.  Jacob loved the activities for the kids but most surprisingly he LOVED the actual horse racing and was always panicking that we might miss the next race.  Jacob is definitely going to follow the Taylor family tradition of punting when he is older.
That was pretty much out month, like I say a little quiet but fun all the same.  Below is a brief individual note on both kids.

Jacob
Jacob has been settling well into life in Senior Kindy and I think he has been enjoying the extra challenges this year at Kindy brings.  Miss Gordana has had to send him to the thinking chair once for being too noisy during "Mat Time"but it seemed to do the trick as the very next week he was selected as “Today’s Special Helper” for behaving impeccably during "Mat Time".  He seems to be enjoying his “News Time” spot once a week when he has a few minutes to stand up tell his class mates about pretty much anything he wants.  His topics have been his trip to the Gabba to watch the cricket and how he enjoys riding his bike and going in the swimming pool at home.
I am not too sure how aware people are of the major problems we have faced with Jacob and eating.  For 2 years the only tea time meals he would eat were macaroni and pizza.  Well this month we have turned a major corner and had some wonderful success.  He has eaten a full roast dinner with all the vegetables, spaghetti bolognaise, fish, sausage rolls, steak pie, noodles and more.  This has brought great pleasure to Jason and I and we are both terribly proud of his efforts.
His favorite past time is STILL playing Lego and we treated him to some new police Lego this month.

Bella
Bella, Bella, Bella.  What can I say about Bella? Other than she is just totally MAD.  She sure keeps us on our toes with her shenanigans but that is why we love her.
Bella’s new “thing” this month is taking people by the hand and leading them to where she wants them to go, which is USUALLY the fridge to get her food.
Bella’s favorite past times at the moment is the swimming pool and climbing.
